What we strive for at Forever.
Here at Forever, we plan a litter when we are ready for our next generation, and to further advance the future of the breed. We breed for health and temperament first and foremost, and strive to keep our distinct breed type in e very litter while doing so. We also keep in mind that the majority of our puppies will be placed in loving family homes, wether that be from the young age of 8 weeks, or when they are ready to retire. With that said, we take every step possible to ensure our dogs are mentally and physically prepared for that next step in their life, being well socialized from birth, and their health and happiness firmly in mind.
Puppy Care at Forever
What to expect when taking home your Forever puppy.
Vaccination Protocol
Depending on the age of your puppy, it will have at least its first DHPP Vaccination . We will provide you with a detailed vaccination recommendation to share with your veterinarian. We follow Dr. Dodd’s Vaccination Protocol to avoid any health issues caused by over-vaccinating, we take this very seriously, and are happy to talk to you about the reasons to AVOID over vaccination.
Veterinarian Health Check
Every one of our puppies is examined by an experienced small animal veterinarian and the great team at Veterinary Village, before they go to their new home. This exam includes a full physical and cardiac exam. We strive to send home, happy, healthy puppies!
Deworming Protocol
Our puppies receive regular preventative deworming to avoid any parasitic issues. This ensures your puppy comes with no dormant issues that will surprise you just after your puppy gets home. We use Ivermectin and Panacur to protect against heartworm and other internal parasites in our older puppies and adults. Once you take your puppy home, your veterinarian can advise you on a recommended program for your dog.
Microchipping
Our puppies go home microchipped and enrolled with the AKC Reunite Program. When you enroll your dog's microchip with AKC Reunite, their ID is linked to your name, phone numbers, emergency contacts and other vital information in the database. When your dog is found, they can then immediately send you text messages, emails and begin contacting all the phone numbers on your pet’s record to reunite you as quickly as possible.
Socialization
This is the key to ensuring that your puppy will quickly become a happy, well-adjusted family member. Our litters are raised in our home with an abundance of attention, handling & time with our children. Our puppies are introduced to various noises, experiences, surfaces, toys, car rides, other pets, children and more so that the day they leave us, they are ready to be well rounded members of your family!
Housebreaking
We get our puppies on a potty schedule early and that foundational training makes housebreaking a breeze. We are obsessive about cleanliness and sanitation. Our puppies are raised with “litter boxes” of pine pellets, and are taught from 4 weeks of age to use their designated “potty area”, to teach cleanliness and potty vs. living areas. This is the stepping stone to teaching clean living.
